When Kathleen Dougherty was ready to list her family cranberry farm, a realtor suggested she earn her broker license and manage the sale herself. Not only did she successfully sell her farm, but she also accepted an invitation to join a local brokerage and help others explore Oregon's South Coast real estate market.
Â
Six years and countless sales later, Katie says the unexpected career opportunity was definitely a good thing. Her commitment to clients is highlighted in endorsements from first-time homebuyers to seasoned real estate investors. She has facilitated sales in communities throughout the region. And Katie ranked as the highest-selling broker in the Port Orford market in 2018.
Â
Katie knows that buying or selling property is an emotional and financial investment for each client. Throughout her professional life, she has developed technical skills and the ability to listen, problem-solve and collaborate. Her experience includes work in accounting and human resources, and she is a licensed tax preparer. In getting to know clients, Katie looks for value in the relationship as well as the transaction– she understands the positive difference a broker can make.
Â
She's an active community member, passionate about arts and education, and the health and beauty of our coastal environment. The daughter of a commercial fisherman, Katie fondly recalls the many hours she spent in her youth cruising the Northern California and Southern Oregon coastline. She discovered the impact of arts education as a parent volunteer at the Redding School of the Arts charter school in California. Today, Katie advocates for arts, education, and ocean health, serving as interim executive director for Bandon-based nonprofit Washed Ashore Art to Save the Sea.
