Bay Area
Our Bay Area
consists of the communities of Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston.
Each of our communities are filled with unique characteristics, a
rich history, magnificent beauty along with diverse recreational
activities and attractions.
Coos Bay
- The City of Coos Bay is comprised of various communities that once
surrounded the Bay. Empire and Eastside are now districts of Coos
Bay, helping to define the unique character found in this small
town. Coos Bay is known throughout the world as a major exporter of
wood products. It is the largest city on the Oregon Coast and the
professional and financial hub of the region.
Located just
minutes from town, the Sea Lion Caves offer an incredible
undisturbed beauty. The sea cave is the largest in the world and
absolutely magnificent. Wild, golden Steller sea lions and their
black pups take shelter. During the summer breeding season,
enormous bulls, weighing up to 2,000 pounds, join the herd on rock
ledges just outside the cave. Sea Lion Caves, home of wild Steller
sea lions, has been called 'the treasure of the Oregon Coast.
Charleston
- Charleston is just eight miles from either Coos Bay or North
Bend, barely a 15 minute drive west from the Oregon Coast Highway,
U.S. 101.When it's time for a weekend getaway, a family vacation, or
an extended stay at the magnificent Oregon Coast, it's time to head
for Charleston. This distinctive fishing village is located near
some of the finest recreation and most beautiful scenery in the
Northwest
Coquille
- Just 20 miles inland from Oregon’s South Coast, the city of
Coquille maintains a temperate climate shielded from coastal winds.
Beautiful morning fog, clear night skies, rainbows across the valley
and colorful sunsets greet the tall trees on the horizon. Coquille
makes a great stopping point with its historic downtown shops,
private homes dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and
nostalgic Sawdust Theater. Coquille hosts the Gay ‘90s Festival the
first weekend in June, which recalls the town’s boom time of the
1890’s.
Gold Beach
- The City of Gold Beach, Oregon is located on the edge of the Coast
Range along the shore of the Pacific Ocean. The town is just 37
miles north of the Oregon/California border on Highway 101. This
pleasantly remote area is filled with a delightful array of
recreational and lodging opportunities.
Lakeside
- Situated along Ten Miles Lakes about 10 miles north of the Coos
Bay/North Bend area on the southern Oregon coast, Lakeside is a
popular summertime and retirement destination.. The lake, noted for
its prize bass and other angling opportunities, is actually two
lakes, connected by a channel, with many private homes along the
shores. It’s also popular with water skiers and personal watercraft
users.
Mrytle
Point - Said to be one of the best-preserved small towns in
Southern Oregon, Myrtle Point sits along Highway 42 at the southern end of the Coquille
River Valley. The
historic downtown district is ringed by many vintage homes, some
well kept and others in the process of detailed restoration.
